Qatar Airways Adds Restrictions on Award Bookings for Friends and Family
Over the last few days, Qatar Airways has implemented new restrictions on Privilege Club award bookings.
There is now a notice stating that members can only book award flights for yourself or for people in either “My List” or your “Family & Friends” pool.
That doesn’t sound like much of a problem, but the notice says that you can start adding members after you’ve been a Privilege Club member for 30 days and have collected Avios by flying or using one of the Qatar Airways cards.
Another annoying quirk is that “Family and Friends” members cannot have an existing Qatar Airways Privilege Club account.
Qatar is probably doping this to go after mileage brokers or those who sell award tickets. But even those who are actually booking for family and friends will also have issues with the new restrictions.
