2X Walmart Buck$ to Bluebird
I have written pretty extensively about Walmart’s Savings Catcher program. (Here is a full review and explanation.) One of the ways Walmart aimed to make the program more attractive was to double the amount of Walmart Buck$ you receive when they are transferred to your Bluebird card.
This “doubling of the difference” paved the way for many great deals. Unfortunately it was is only a temporary promotion and was set to end yesterday. Thankfully though, I discovered this morning that the promotion is still active.
When Will It End?
Walmart has not changed the language about the date of expiration, but as of now the system is still doubling transfers of Walmart Buck$ to Bluebird. Between the recent devaluation of the program and the end of this doubling promotion, I am not sure of the value of the program going forward, but at least for now it still makes a lot of sense.
If you have Walmart Buck$ sitting in your account waiting to be redeemed, make sure to send them to your Bluebird card as soon as possible to get them doubled. Hopefully Walmart will extend this promotion, but my guess is they will stop the doubling very soon since they haven’t updated the terms on their website.

The other thing I left out, so far this year (2017) I’ve made $136.78 on just the Savings Catcher at Walmart. And on iBotta, I’ve made $101.07. Total = $237.85. So now you see how important it is to use both apps. I highly recommend both.
I REALLY don’t think people understand what a great deal this really is. Each shopping trip I’ve made at Walmart & use the Savings Catcher feature I’ve made up money. The smallest amount maybe $3 but I’ve also received up to $17.88 back! It’s honestly the easiest way to make money! All you have to do is let your phone scan the QR code at the bottom of the receipt. If it doesn’t scan the code you can still key enter the numbers at the bottom of the receipt & include the correct date on receipt. EASY $MONEY$!!
TIP: Also use the ibotta app. You can make money from 2 (&possibly more by my favorite is ibotta) different sources & make a decent amount of money back. Most things I’ve found on ibotta are things I’m going to buy anyways but the majority of it is sale items at other grocery stores. Sure, you can go to these stores & buy the product for cheaper. BUT doesn’t it make more sense to actually get money back in 2 different apps than just going to buy it cheaper at another store?? I’d rather make the money! So not only are you getting money back from ibotta but also on the Walmart Savings Catcher & that’s already better because if anything you’ve already doubled if not tripled money back! And don’t even get me started on coupons…yes, that can be time consuming & yadda yadda BUT if you use coupons as well EXPLOSIVE money savings CAN happen. (EX: product cost $2. On ibotta, depending on the promotion, it could be $0.25-$1 you’d get back. And on savings catcher, depending on what store has the item cheaper has the potential to save up to $1. IF from ibotta & savings catcher gives you $1 ea. back, you’ve got your item for FREE! And IF you use coupons, just add what the coupon would be saving you. Wouldn’t FREE & PROFITING be exciting!? And even if it wasn’t FREE, you could or another possibility, get it for $.50.) Again, this was just an example of the possibilities that can happen & it happens for me ALL the time. It’s still wise to shop smart. Some items on iBotta will show that you’ll get $.25 back on an item that’s over $6. Now unless another store had that $6 item for cheaper by a buck or two, its a toss up to me whether I’d want the item (even if you get back a couple bucks on savings catcher) unless it’s a ‘must have’. All in all, the Savings Catcher is a no brainer. It’s easy & takes no effort. The ibotta app you’ll have to look for what items you want, unlock that item by either answering 3 simple questions OR watch a 10 sec video. I’d recommend scanning the bar code on item at the store to make sure you get the correct item that’s on ibotta. Make sure you read about the item. Sometimes it wants you to get 2 of the same item OR there can be combos. This week, one of the combos is a bag of charcoal & 1 bag of Doritos. Both items need to be bought in order to get money back from ibotta. After you’ve checked out, then scan the receipt for proof that you bought ‘whatever’ items. Ibotta claims you’ll get money back in 24 hrs. But it’s actually way less than that! I’ve received money back as soon as 2 hrs later. It might take some practice but don’t get discouraged. It’s been great having extra money! We use the money we get back from both these apps for Christmas gifts & back to school clothes.
TIP: This is super beneficial for people on Food Stamps. People on food stamps typically don’t have enough money to make ends meet, hence the reason for food stamps. No shame in that game, I’ve BEEN there as a single mother of 2. People who use food stamps can use these 2 apps I’ve suggested & receive money back as any other person not on food stamps. Which will greatly help out their cause even more so. It’s a WIN WIN.
When will they have double bonus again?? Needs to be before Christmas!!
I am not sure if they will. They only did it once to promote Savings Catcher. Crossing my fingers though!
are they still doubling your money when you transfer walmart saving catcher to bluebird?
No that offer ended unfortunately.
Can someone please help me? I have 2 questions. First how do i get my walmart bucks transferred to my bluebird card? Also it appears i have redeemed some of my bucks (accorfing to walmart savings catcher website .i have no idea how i did that. I have no other credit/debit cards .
I appreciate any input. Thank you
You have to login to the Walmart website and go to the Savings Catcher section. On that page you should see an option to link your Bluebird account. Once it is linked you should be able to transfer your Walmart Buck$ to it.
Just redeemed to BlueBird today, but I had to go online on my PC and it was tricky to get the “Redeem to BlueBird” option. The link to get to that option says something like “BlueBird Offer” and you click on that, then you are directed to the BlueBird dashboard where you can redeem to your BlueBird account. It also did not double, so I think that has officially expired.
Bluebird isn’t available or visible on the Walmart app anymore.
my bluebird acct has over 210 buckso from the Walmart double program..but no more access SUCKS and agreed that it’ll keep me from shopping there as often as before.
You can still transfer to Bluebird on their website if you wish.
It is like shopping all the store sales and you only have to go to one store. With very little effort I have collected $160 on my Bluebird card since Oct 2014. I am sure the savings will not add up as quickly now that they are not doubling. I average $3-6 dollars a week, for a family of 3. Still a deal.
As of the end of February 2015 the doubling of the Savings Catcher amount to your Bluebird card has ended.
In the page of walmart, log in and go to Savings Catcher. SELECT “Redeem Method”, there you select BlueBird.
I already did it, and went to my BlueBird account to verify, and it did have a new balance.
A recent email from WalMart says they recognize the app issue transferring to Bluebird. Frankly, without the doubling program in effect, there really is no need for me to even keep the Bluebird account open. Less incentive to shop WalMart as well. This will cost them both.
[…] Walmart Buck$ Transfer to Bluebird Are Still Doubling – Act Fast! […]
Shawn,
Has bluebird ended its relationship with walmart? I know the doubling was limited time, but I tried to move my Walmart bucks to Bluebird, but could not.
For some reason the Bluebird option has been removed from the app. If you go to the Savings Catcher website it should still show up. Even though the system doesn’t show a bonus anymore, for some reason it is still doubling.
I have tried to double my saving twice, did Bluebird stop doubling?
Yes it stopped on March 1.
I bought my groceries on 02/27, but my receipt didn’t process until March 1 and I wasn’t given the option to double since the promo ended 2/28. Seems like I should have gotten the credit since the items were purchased before the deadline.
Just redeemed 1.98 Saving Catchers this morning to my Bluebird account and it doubled to 3.96
Scratch that, just got an email from Bluebird telling me of my new balance and it did double it 🙂 yay
I went to Wal-Mart website like William advised because I too was only able to get my $ on a e-card. It then gave me the option to get an e-card or to put on my blue bird card. It didn’t however double the savings this time around 🙁
I was able to redeem to bluebird before with very favorable results…I’ve saved well over 70 bucks within a 1 to 2 month period. Today I tried to redeem to bluebird but only have the option to place on an Wal-Mart egift card. Was this option removed when they stopped doubling the points?
It was working as of yesterday. Some people have reported problems with the app. Have you tried going to their website?
at this time no you just have to make sure the bluebird is till connected to the Walmart saving catcher site and how to do that you go to the website online and you can check it out buy just going to edit and make sure it is still connected and if it is not then you can just check on it and it will redeemed back to the Bluebird account of yours.
You guys should check out slickdeals…they have an entire thread dedicated to taking advantage of this
I admit I have never heard about Walmart bucks. Your made 2 cents? Jeez, you could get a better return by simply looking on the floor near any cashier.
No I have been traveling and haven’t shopped at Walmart in awhile. I bought a $1 soda that was $.98 elsewhere so I would have money in my account to test this.
People routinely save 10-15% weekly with Savings Catcher, so it is a good program for a lot of people. Feel free to take the time to read about it if you wish.
I keep my Wal mart saving catcher money on my blue bird card I bought a new 125.00 for my granddaughter at Christmas and after using my blue bird card I only had to pay .73 cents so her bike was basically free so how about that ,y friends
