Personal Southwest Cards Have Increased 60K Bonuses that Count for Companion Pass!

Southwest has increased bonuses on the three personal credit cards. These are not the best bonuses we have seen on these credit cards, since the spending is pretty high. But could still to get your Companion Pass.  You can read our review of the Plus and Premier card or our review of the Priority version.

Need to Know

Here are some facts about the cards you should know:

  • Southwest points are often worth 1.5 cents each towards airfare. This increased offer is like getting an extra $150 in value.
  • Points earned from this bonus DO COUNT towards the Southwest Companion Pass.
  • These cards are known to be subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule.

Eligibility

These products are not available to either:

  • (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapids Rewards® Credit Card, or
  • (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.

Conclusion

These are good offers on all three cards and are especially useful to get the Southwest Companion Pass at a good time, since it will last close to two years. But we have seen better 60K offers in the past, will less spending required. When you stack a personal card offer with the business card offer you would have more than the required 110,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points needed for the companion pass.

For frequent Southwest flyers the Priority card is probably the best fit with all of the added perks you get and the Southwest credit.  For more infrequent flyers the Plus version is the best fit in my opinion since the annual fee is very manageable.
