Southwest Could Start Flying to Hawaii in March

Southwest Hawaii flights should become available in a couple of months. It has been a long time coming, and the launch date has been pushed back several times. But, finally the company hopes to sell tickets in February for flights starting around the end of March.

But still, nothing is guaranteed. That plan might materialize only if the government and its FAA remain open for business. Southwest’s Hawaii flights were supposed to start in January. but the federal government shutdown prevented the final approval. It will take approximately six to eight weeks for Southwest to launch its new routes after the FAA approval process is back to normal.

Southwest is expected to force its rivals to lower prices for flights to Hawaii in order to compete. We’ve already seen plenty of deals recently. Read more at Beat of Hawaii.

Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines is dropping service to Mexico City on March 30th. They will continue to serve other locations in Mexico, such as Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
