Swagbucks Referral Program

Monday Morning Miles Talk is a regular series that has some smaller, more quirky ideas to kick off the work week.  These are essentially random ideas that I wanted to share with you.  Here are the 4 most recent topics.

Taking Advantage of Swagbucks’ Referral Program

The Swagbucks website is a hodge podge of money savings tools.  The site offers a shopping portal, cash back offers for trying new products, cash for watching videos and taking surveys etc.  It is the Sears of internet cash back.

You earn Swagbucks when you complete these tasks.  Swagbucks are a cash like equivalent that you can cash out for 1 cent a piece via PayPal or for a 3rd party gift card.  They even offer $25 gift cards for $22 worth of Swagbucks for your first gift card redemption each month.

The program has it’s uses for sure, especially when working with outside vendors offering cash back deals, but Swagbucks’ referral program is what makes the site really interesting.

Swagbucks Referral Program

Most cashback sites/shopping portals offer a flat rate payout for referring a friend.  Something like $10 or $25 for each referral.  I even used referral credits to help widen my margins when reselling my 2 Apple TV 4K.

With the Swagbucks referral program the referrer (you) earn a 10% bonus on everything the referral person (friend/spouse) earns.  There is no cap on earning either….that is INSANE!  You can see the terms of the offer HERE.

How to Use the Program to Your Advantage

Outside of signing up everyone you know and hoping they use the program there is one sure fire way you can take advantage of this.  This is a two person set up so you need a spouse, friend, or a family member to do it.  If you don’t have any of these things go out and make some friends!  I am going to assume you have a spouse or significant other in my breakdown though.

If you already have a Swagbucks account then refer your spouse/significant other to the program.  Then make every future purchase using your spouse’s account leaving your account alone.  This will earn you an extra 10% on every Swagbucks activity you do going forward.  The bonus will be deposited into your account every time you earn Swagbucks on your spouse’s account.

If you don’t already have a Swagbucks account then sign up your spouse first and then refer yourself. Then you can use your own account and still earn the 10% account bonus that will be added your spouse’s account.

This will ensure that you earn 110% on every single activity going forward…pretty amazing!

I don’t like using Swagbucks often since I find that they have issue tracking some things. I still find myself going back because they have a lot of deals that are too good to pass up.  Adding in this referral program will limit your risk even more when doing these deals.

If you don’t already have an account and need to get you or your spouse started in the program then you can use our referral link if you want to support the site.

  1. Yea… I’ve been contemplating this for a while. Mostly to redo all the free money deals I’ve already gone through, I really need some new (profitable) razors. I have avoided doing it as I expect it might result in a shutdown. Any DPs to the contrary?

    • I know of a few people that have done it long term with no problem….but it is something to consider for sure. Swagbucks likes to shut down people for no reason anyways.

  2. I have been using Swagbucks for about 7 years and have made more than $1000. Most of my money came from using the shopping portal. Once, I tried something similar to the spouse referral, and ended up with my account getting shut down. So be careful!
