My Experience At The World’s Largest McDonald’s

We were in Orlando a few weeks ago with some time to burn. This was the trip when Wyndham refused to follow their own terms even when shown to them. After checking out from the Wyndham hotel we had a few hours before checking into the Hyatt Regency at the airport.  It was raining all day and we decided to check out the world’s largest Mcdonald’s. It did not disappoint! This place had omelettes, pizza, pasta, a huge PlayPlace, and even an arcade.  It was just what the doctor ordered with a few hours to burn.

First Impressions & The Food

I had read some about the location before we got there so I was prepared for most of what I saw.  But when we first walked in I saw a dessert counter to my left, I was not expecting that.  There was a delicious looking cake on display and everything.

We then proceeded to walk up to the kiosks to order food from the video screens.  It was that awkward time when you are not sure if it is technically lunch or breakfast.  The kiosks were for ordering breakfast and you could go to the registers for lunch items, which included pizza and pasta!  I decided to try out a McDonald’s omelette, because why not? There were a few other interesting items on the breakfast menu as well.

It was better than quite a few diner omelettes I have had.

The kids went with their standard chicken nugget happy meal.  You were given a number to put on your table and they bring the food out to you.  This helps keep the ordering area less congested.

No one in our party tried the pizza or pasta but I did get to check out the area where they made it. It was kind of crazy to see if I am being honest. I saw quite a few people eating the pasta and I have to say it looked pretty good.  I didn’t see any pizza but the video on the menu screen made it look like a thin style pizza. They also had Philly cheese steaks as an option.

The Kids Wonderland

The first floor of the McDonald’s is where the food is ordered and the rest of it is filled with seating.  When you go upstairs that is when the magic happens.  The second floor has another dining area on one half of the floor.  The other half of the second level is filled with an arcade, a prize counter, and a large PlayPlace.

My kids love McDonald’s and they love arcades so they were pretty pumped about all of this.  The arcade is the standard set up where you load a card with credits to swipe at the machines.  This is perfect since it allows you to load it with a credit card ;).  The arcade also loads any tickets earned directly to the card to be redeemed at the prize counter. The area is pretty tight and there isn’t much space to stand around the machines to watch your kids play which was a little bit annoying.

After depleting our arcade card we redeemed the tickets for a couple of dollar store trinkets.  Nothing like spending $20 to get $2 worth of junk that will be thrown away the next day!  We then headed over to the PlayPlace area which is right next to the prize counter.  It is one of the larger, if not largest, PlayPlace areas I have seen.  The issue was that there were only like 6 places for parents to sit.  And unlike your regular PlayPlace areas there were no tables etc. to sit at while the kids played.  Because of this we only gave the kids 10 or 15 minutes to play in the area.  It was just too congested.

Conclusion

This was completely different than any McDonald’s I have ever seen and I am glad we checked it out.  The kids really enjoyed it and it was perfect for a rainy day.  I do wish the set up on the 2nd floor had been more well thought out.  They could have removed some of the dining tables to make more space available for the two high traffic areas, the PlayPlace and arcade.

As you can imagine the kids get a little amped when they get in there and not all parents are the best at controlling that.  So you have to deal with the odd kid going a little crazy.

If you are in Orlando and have some time to burn or have a craving for some pasta or pizza be sure to check out the world’s largest McDonald’s.  You won’t be disappointed!

  1. You haven’t been to the McDonalds in Budapest at Nyugati Palyaudvar. That’s the most beautiful I’ve seen. Look it up.

  2. Everyone loves Nuggets!
If your embarrassed I hear they have a window on the side of the building where they will pass the Nuggets out to you in a paper bag. No one will know.
