Travelpony has yet another “Mystery” sale going on. Now through 12:00AM CDT on 7/10/14, when you enter the code JULYMYSTERY on the checkout page, they will give you a discount.
Discount Deciphered
Using the word “mystery” to describe the sale may imply that everyone gets a different discount, but this isn’t the case. I have tested the code with a couple of different accounts and I can definitely say that the “mystery” discount is 8%.
Often times Travelpony has rates that are already 20-30% below what other online travel agents are charging, so this additional savings can really help you to score a great deal.
A Great Example
When I was searching for the discount amount, I just randomly chose Los Angeles for July 22, 2014- July 24, 2014. Travelpony immediately sorted my results by discount %. This is their discount over the publicly available rates for those dates.
The first hotel on the list was the L.A. Hotel Downtown. This hotel is in the process of renovations as it converts into a Hyatt Regency. It seems all of the guest rooms and most of the public areas are finished now. When I clicked through, I found out that Travelpony had the hotel for $392 for two nights while all of the other online travel agents were charging $562. Travelpony even showed me a comparison.
Remember that they are offering 8% off of this already discounted amount, meaning the total comes down to $364.96. That isn’t bad and it is about 35% less than the other travel agents. Of course there are many cities, hotels & examples that will work out differently.
How To Get The Discount
To get the discount, simply login and search for hotels as you normally would. On the final checkout page, below the summary there is a section that says “Apply discount code”. Click the little “+” sign and then type in the JULYMYSTERY. It should instantly show an 8% discount.
If you don’t have a Travelpony account, then sign up and they will give you $35 off of your first booking. While this new member discount can’t be combined with the 8% code, you can use both if on separate bookings.
Conclusion
I have used Travelpony several times in the past and highly recommend them. With that said, I always recommend checking a variety of sites before booking to make sure you are getting the best deal. I usually find that Travelpony is cheaper, especially when they have these promotions.
Note: If you click a link in this post and sign up for Travelpony you receive a $35 credit for your first booking and I receive a $25 credit after you complete your first stay.
