U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Premium Travel Card

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Premium Travel Card

Last week rumors began circulating that U.S. Bank will be launching a premium credit card that is meant to compete with the American Express Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve and Citi Prestige. Now according to a source of Wallaby Financial, we have some new (rumored) details of the exciting U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card. And this card sounds pretty pretty pretty good.

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Bonus Offer

The new card will be available only to current U.S. Bank customers at the beginning. It will come with the following bonus offer:

  • Earn 50,000 points after $4,500 in spend during the first 90 days. $400 annual fee.

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Earnings

The card will reportedly earn points in the following ways:

  • 3X points on travel
  • 3X points on all mobile wallet purchases
  • 1X on everything else

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Features/Benefits

As you can see above, the card has a hefty annual fee, but it delivers on benefits. Here is what you can expect:

  • A metallic card
  • Points are worth 1.5 cents each when you redeem for travel through the US Bank portal.
  • 12 free Gogo passes per year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Global Entry fee credit
  • Visa Infinite Benefits (No mention of the companion air benefit)

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card Travel Credit

While the benefits above sound good, this card will also reportedly have a $325 annual travel credit. Wallaby says this travel credit will apply automatically similar to how it works with the Sapphire Reserve. There is no mention if this credit applies to anything in the travel category or will have restrictions.

Analysis

If this card does indeed come with a $325 travel credit, a bonus worth $750 in travel spend and 3X earnings on all mobile wallet purchases, it will be a HUGE winner. Since it is supposed to launch on May 1, 2017, hopefully we will see some official confirmation from U.S. Bank soon!

What do you think? Will you apply for this card when it comes out?

  1. I’m a long time US Bank customer so I’ll wait and see what they offer. I have the Citi Prestige but would give that up if they offer a better deal. We shall see.

    • U.S. Bank can be tough and they do look closely at how many recent apps you have had. There are a ton of factors, but I know some people who get denied by them and some people with a lot of cards who get approvals.

  2. I have all three premium cards already on the market. The US Bank card doesn’t offer transfer partners making it much less valuable. No thanks.

  3. Does having a Club Carlson card count as being a U.S. Bank customer?

I’m only hanging on to Citi Prestige until July when the AF posts. Hubby and I both have Amex Plat and CSRs. We haven’t decided yet if we are keeping all 4 cards. We’ll decide when the AFs post (or shortly before). Another premium card. Tempting.

    • On $266+ tickets, points in the regular Flexperks card are worth anywhere from 1.33 to 2 cents. On $200+ hotel stays, they are worth 1 to 1.5 cents.

  4. i guess we all have CSR to thank for this. basically CSR was the Apple of CCs. forever changing the landscape and those who think its OK to stay as BlockBuster or BlackBerry will be destroyed. no complaints here, but lets see how the long term game changes. I dont think this CC is sustainable and neither will be CSR.

is this even flexperks? i guess it is. i also find it odd USB Alt didnt bust out 100k. maybe upping the travel credit w/ $25 over CSR is good enough. haha.

but im gonna sit and wait for this one. maybe its wise to be early adopter but I dont like how US Bank shuts you down. I already have a few CCs with them. i dont need my entire line shut down after they see my credit report.

    • i didnt know that was confirmed already. also, you probably have many other CCs with PP so it shouldn’t matter unless this is ur only premium CC.

  5. The market is too crowded with these premium cards. Every dollar I put on one card is a dollar I’m not putting on another. I’m watching my 5/24, sticking with CSR and Citi Prestige and calling it a day.
