Virgin Website Confirms Devaluation Not As Bad As We Thought
Virgin Atlantic scared everyone on the first day of the year with a huge devaluation for its loyalty program. Booking business class Delta flights from the U.S. to either Asia or Europe has long bee a sweet spot for this program. At first it seemed as all prices would see a drastic increase based on the information shown on the Virgin Atlantic website. But we received word that the devaluation would not be as bad as it seemed.
Virgin Atlantic said that “in regards to US-Europe flights, we are still finalizing the details on the pricing on these routes and the website does not currently reflect the final prices.” They added that the website will be updated soon.
Now the Virgin Atlantic website confirms that the rates for travel between the US and Europe on its partner Delta are not changing. at least for now. You can book Delta One for 50,000 points one way and Delta Main Cabin will cost you 30,000 points.
You can see other award charts as well here. Just click on the “Spend points” tab.
Conclusion
It’s great to see this fixed. The change was meant to be for flights to Asia only, which are in fact more expensive now. But at least flight to and from Europe will remain intact. That is not a guarantee that these prices will never change. But at least for now, you can start booking your Delta One flights if you plan to travel to Europe.
