Free Shipping on Visa Gift Cards Online – A Decent Option for Meeting Minimum Spend

Giftcards.com isn’t often talked about, but they do sell Visa gift cards online. Normally their program isn’t too attractive since the cards cost $4.95 each and carry a $1.99 shipping fee. To put it simply, they are too expensive compared to other options.

Thankfully there is a promotion that changes the math. Through July 8, GiftCards.com is offering free shipping with the code INDEPENDENCE. This brings the cost of a $500 card down to $504.95. That price is of course decent, but not the cheapest option around.

There are a few limitations and things you should know about this sale:

  • The maximum purchase is $1,500 since higher amounts require a method of shipping that the code doesn’t cover.
  • These cards are issued by Bancorp (same bank as Vanilla) and thus don’t work well at Walmart to load Bluebird/Serve. They do work fine at Target for REDbird.
  • These can be purchased with normal Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards, but Amex gift cards will not work.

Who Is This Good For

This is another option for those who like to be REWARDED for sitting at home and ordering gift cards in their PJs. There are cards that can be purchased for $3.95 at malls and credit unions, but those options aren’t available to everyone. I suspect some people will like the simplicity of purchasing these cards.

Conclusion

With the near death of GiftCardMall (that option still lives through a backdoor link) I know some of you have been looking for alternative ways to easily meet minimum spend requirements. This isn’t the perfect way, but this new discount code brings it within the realm of making sense.

  1. Hi Shawn,

Have you purchased gift card on Agfed Credit Union? I tried to make purchase with my name embossed. But there is no such options. I can only choose Happy Birthday, happy anniversary etc. any solution? Thanks

  2. No way in Dallas, Texas to dispose of the gift/debit + PINs cards. Can’t buy money orders or pay bills with them.
No Redbird here and Bluebird won’t work with me.

  3. sup man. you had mentioned “$504.95 That price is of course decent, but not the cheapest option around..” Would you please clarify and let us know the other avenues available for massive purchases of VGC w/ PINs at a better price? Even better if we can personalize it. I know GiftCardMall used to be the fountain of VGC w/ portal cashback, but not sure where to go unless you do old school style and drive to different grocery stores/office supply stores like I do now.

    • Oh, one other thing. Have you written a post or know of a post which lists the “top 10” methods of MS? Just curious because I wanted to look into an updated 2015 list of common MS strategies since theres so much change in the landscape recently. I figure bulk GC resale is probably on the top now since you can do it in your PJs. Not waste gas and time driving and have cashiers look at your weird and etc etc. Really tired of going through that.

      • Got it Shawn. Googled your response and got hits on various forums and FT posts with additional “ideas”. Man.. I really gotta bulk GC resale now!! Thanks man!

  4. Hey Shawn,

You write that these Visa GCs “don’t work well at Walmart to load Bluebird/Serve.”
Could you explain a bit more what that means. Do they work, but only under certain
conditions, etc. Or do that not work…

    Thanks!

    • They really don’t work. Some people claim that they work in denominations of $50 or less, but I have had mixed experiences with that. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, plus any loads over $50 will fail. Best not to purchase these with plans to liquidate at Walmart.
