Secret Wells Fargo Checking Bonus
Wells Fargo is notoriously stingy when approving credit card applications. It is widely believed that they favor people who have other banking relationships with them. For that reason, it may be a good idea to open a checking or other account.
A Great Bonus
Doctor of Credit reported a couple of months ago about a secret $200 Wells Fargo Checking bonus offer you can get only by withdrawing money from an ATM.
To get the offer:
- Withdraw money from a non-Wells Fargo bank account at a Wells Fargo ATM.
- You will be asked if you want a special offer or asked to push the “Print Offer” button.
- A code and offer will print on your ATM receipt.
The Offer
- $200 bonus
- Bonus is triggered after a $500 direct deposit or 10 debit card purchases.
- Must be a new checking customer & must not have received a cash bonus in the past 12 months.
Getting the Offer
Unfortunately it appears there are two versions of this offer. Here in Las Vegas I was only offered a $100 bonus after making a qualifying direct deposit. The $100 offer is inferior in two ways. First off the bonus is less money, but secondly it also doesn’t include the debit card offer. The only way to trigger it is through direct deposit.
Fortunately, there is a way to get the $200 offer even if you don’t get it printed on your ATM receipt. In the fine print for the $200 offer, the code ATMPLS is mentioned. Last month when I tried to get this offer, I was told it didn’t exist. If someone tells you that, ask to speak to someone else.
Today’s Success
Despite being told the code and promotion didn’t exist a few weeks ago, we tried again today and successfully opened up a checking account and confirmed the bonus. The agent opening the account was easily able to lookup the code in the system.
After being denied initially, I decided not to share this deal. Fortunately now that I can confirm everything works, I think it is a great deal. Not only should it open up more opportunities to get other Wells Fargo products if you desire, but it amounts to free money for little work.
Conclusion
I highly suggest going over to the original Doctor of Credit post since it contains more information, the full terms & conditions and several follow ups from readers in the comments! Hopefully many of you will be able to take advantage of this very generous deal. Good luck!

Does this offer still exist? My boyfriend wants to changes banks/open a checking account with Wells Fargo.
So he just goes to a Wells Fargo ATM, withdraws money from his BoA checking account (current bank), then the offer to open a checking account with Wells Fargo and receive a $200 bonus appears?
I don’t think the $200 offer exists anymore, but last I heard there was a $100 offer, but it isn’t guaranteed.

Hey dudes! I recently opened a checking and savings account 3-4 days ago. Would I still be able to get the bonus. So, if made ten different debit card transactions in a row all different transactions. Then I withdraw money frim an atm and then I will receive a code or offer on the receipt. Is that right?
I’m not sure. Might not hurt to ask your banker if they will match it. This offer is a bit old, so I’m not even sure if it is still available or has been replaced by something else.
