The Wyndham Status Match Is Dead – What About Casino Matching?
Yesterday Bougie Miles reported that Wyndham had recently ended their hotel status match. The Wyndham status match has always been one of the most generous status matches available. Getting Wyndham Diamond status was easily obtainable from simply carrying a Hilton Surpass card for example because it comes with the required Hilton Gold status. You may be thinking, but who cares about Wyndham status? The trick is that once you have top tier Wyndham status you can parlay that into Caesars Rewards Diamond status. And Caesars Rewards Diamond status comes with tons of freebies in Vegas like free $100 dinners, show tickets, parking and no resort fees. Since the Wyndham status match is dead where does that leave casino matching? Not completely in the dark, if you are already on the status match train at least.
What Has Changed?
As you can see in the above graphic, matching to Wyndham status is an early necessity. Without the Wyndham status match you are kind of stuck at the starting gate. The only way to get to Wyndham Diamond these days is to actually earn it and we are not doing that.
You could get the Wyndham Rewards credit card that comes with Platinum status. But that would only get you Platinum status with Caesars Rewards. Caesars Platinum does come with a few perks but not not enough to chase. Same with the Caesars Rewards credit card, it only comes with Platinum status unless you get a targeted offer for Diamond.
I will say the Wyndham card has a play for future Vegas trips. If you sign up for the welcome offer, I encourage you to wait for the 45K offers, you can transfer them to your Caesars Rewards account and they will be worth 1 cent a piece. You could then treat yourself to your own Diamond status!
Having said all that if you are new to the status match game you are up the creek without a paddle unfortunately. At least until Wyndham brings back their status match, which I think will happen at some point, you have no easy way to get to Caesars Diamond status.
What About The Seasoned Veterans?
So we know that new people are left out in the cold, that is clear, but what about us grizzled veterans? Well if you have been reading Miles to Memories for any time then you should already have yourself some Caesars Rewards Diamond status. That means it is still game on for us. Because the Wyndham and Caesars Rewards partnership has not ended and that is key.
I talked about the possibility of Caesars messing up our fun and games by changing their status dates a few weeks ago. Essentially doing something similar to what MGM Mlife did. But I also said why I think that is unlikely to happen in the article. It simply makes too much sense to leave it how it is.
Because of that we should still be able to match status back and forth from Wyndham and Caesars next year. Technically we will still have status next year since it has been extended but you will want to do it again to trigger the $100 celebration dinner.

Final Thoughts
The Wyndham status match is dead but that doesn’t mean that the casino match game is dead. At least not for all of us. If you have been playing the match game for a while now and currently have Diamond status in either program you should be all set. If you are starting from scratch and were planning on jumping all aboard this year then you are left in the cold. That is until Wyndham decides to bring back their status match again, which I think will happen at some point in the future.

@Mark Ostermann. Want to thank you for the podcast and site, but I think I might be missing something.
With the Borgata MLife Gold match, do I need to go to the hotel desk in Atlantic City, or can I give them a call?
Thanks for reading and listening James. You do need to go to thee Mlife desk at the Borgata to do the match.
Bummer. That is probably the only reason I would ever want to find myself in Atlantic City. Macau was enough casino for me for a lifetime!
As someone that has earned my Caesars Diamond Plus status by gambling (usually around 50,000 Tier Credits a year) I like this since it will hopefully cut down on the number of Diamond members. The Wyndham match was always a joke to me and I didn’t like it since it devalued Diamond for those of us that actually earn it. Maybe they will soon do away w the Wyndham match and the riff raff can all leave
Your jokes have gotten old.
It makes be extra glad Caesar extended their status expiration to the end of January 2022,
That does take some of the pressure off for sure.
