$250 Credit for Some Amex Hilton Aspire Cardholders

Some American Express cardholders are assessing an unexpected $250 gift in their accounts. If you and an Amex Hilton Aspire Credit Card you should log into your account and see if there is a $250 Resort Credit, even if you haven’t used it.

American Express is probably giving this credit to some cardholders since there is no way to use it right now during the coronavirus outbreak. But not everyone is seeing this credit. Actually it looks like it is only a small number of cardholders. Basic Travel Couple wrote about it and I have seen a few other data points. But none of the MtM staff received it. This could be targeted to those who have the annual fee coming up for now and maybe more people will receive it soon.

Conclusion

This is a surprising move from American Express, and one that makes sense and doesn’t force people to look to travel just to take advantage of this credit. Another customer friendly move from American Express after they extending the spending period for welcome bonuses by three months.

Let us know if you received a $250 in your Hilton Aspire Credit Card account.

  1. So they’re saying they did the credit to a wrong year, and that caused a credit due for a later stay not to be issued? And the people didn’t notice?

  2. Just called in this morning as my annual fee is due in a few days. The only thing they offered was a downgrade, which I took.

  3. In the Basic Travel Couple write-up it said it was a “statement credit” and showed it just like you were getting a credit for having already done a resort stay. As such, it could be used for anything NOW.

Details on the other data points would be interesting. It seems pretty sporadic at this point and strange that AMEX wouldn’t at least send an email to let you know what they’ve done for you. Were there recent stays and maybe a credit error has been made? Hope not, but nothing on mine yet.

    • No recent stays. The last one was in December at a Homewood Suites for $150. Definitely strange. A few other people in our Group had confirmed they received the credit as well. Not sure what the common denominator is though.

  4. Not sure what people are seeing exactly. Text support didn’t see any additional ones for me (I used mine up for the cardmember year)

  5. Wishful thinking, I know, but if they’d knock $250 off the first year’s annual fee, I’d gladly upgrade from my Surpass.

  6. Damn, We used our Resort credit last month at a DoubleTree in North Redington Beach, FL. Probably shouldn’t have gone, but we did. Had a nice time – good hotel!
