American Express Has Great New Authorized User Offers

American Express Has Great New Authorized User Offers

Eileen K., a member of our Facebook group, shared a new authorized user offer she had for her American Express Premium Rewards Gold card.  She was offered the bonus while on the phone with American Express for an unrelated issue.  After telling them she wasn’t eligible for that offer because she had done an AU offer in the past, American Express’ response may surprise you.

Details of the Offer

The details of the authorized user offer are as follows:

  • Add up to 4 authorized users
  • Each spends $500 within 3 months
  • Get 5,000 MR points per person

Another Facebook group member reported the same offer on their Platinum card (adding Gold cards to the account for free).  They also were told about it when calling in for an unrelated issue.

American Express Has Great New Authorized User Offers

Interesting Tidbit From American Express Representative

When Eileen told the Amex rep that she had done the AU offer in the past and wasn’t eligible she was told this is a new offer and that she was eligible.  They also said you could add the same four people you did last time, they will just get issued a new card number.

Now I know this was a front line rep and that info should be taken with a grain of salt.  And, with the RAT team on the prowl who knows if it is worth the hassle but it is a decision you should make for yourself.

Conclusion

This is a pretty nice offer and a good way to rack up some MR points.  One of the Facebook group members also saw it in their Amex offers before making the phone call and the other didn’t.  Chat may be another option to check and see if you have either offer.

Take the advice about re-adding the same authorized users as last time with a grain of salt since it was a front line employee.  With American Express cracking down on abuse you have to make your own decisions there.  I know people have simply added themselves in the past with no issues.

Did you get either of these offers or anything else good?  Let me know in the comments and I will add them to our other offers tally!
