Amex’s Crazy Profitable Amex Offer

There was an Amex Offer that came out last week that was an obvious error.  They were offers that said spend $1,000 get $1,500 back or spend $3,000 get $3,000 back up to 3 times etc.  It is pretty obvious someone fat fingered the numbers here. I even think this has happened in the past as well with Amex.  But, at least for now, Amex hasn’t caught on because some of the credits have actually posted.  Yes, people are getting credits on their account for $1,000, $3,000 and even $6,000 back, 3 times. Pure madness!

Update 2/2/22: We are getting reports that these insane offers are back. Check your accounts ASAP and be sure to add them if you see them. I still haven’t heard of any clawbacks on the first round of them so get to spending!

Here is a link to where some photos have been shared on Reddit of the credits.

Will this last? Most certainly not, this is Amex after all. They may take a year to claw it back (also unlikely) but they will for sure get theirs.  This is obviously an error but it is kind of humorous to see the offers posting.  I guess you could give it a go to have some fun, get a (likely very) short term fee free loan and see if you happen to slip through the cracks somehow. Hey, weirder things have happened.

Let me know if you got any of the Amex Offers and if you gave them a try or not in the comments below.

  1. I take it people have generally found the Amex Platinum to be well worth it even after the AF increase? Not trying to highjack the discussion, just wondering if offers like these are what keep people loyal to Amex on cards like Platinum where the daily spending is minimal. Thanks for your insights.

  2. So how would they claw back if once you got your credit and either spent the equivalent of it or had then send you the $, you then went and closed your AMEX accounts?

    • They have sent out bills for miles they wanted to claw back when there was a zero balance in the account etc. Not sure that it will happen or not though.
