A good reminder about the rebate perk for the Amex Business Platinum card that nets you 50% more value per point (1.5 cents per point).  While not as good or as easy to use as the Chase Sapphire Reserve 1.5 cent redemptions it still has its place.

  1. The Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway definitely belongs on the list. But I’d recommend that anyone starting and stopping their trip in Portland makes it an entire loop around Mt. Hood, with at least a stop at Timberline Lodge on the mountain.

Also, as a native Oregonian (and, thus, admittedly biased), I’d argue that the Oregon coastline deserves a spot on that list. And the northern Oregon coast can also be done in a LONG one-day (or longer if you want) loop starting and ending in Portland.

Both loops are a must-do for any Portland visitors.

  2. Just curious, the headline talks about 35% return but the body copy says “50% back on the Amex Business Platinum card”, but it seems that it’s actually 35% using points to book tickets in biz or F. Am I missing something? The article references the 35% return of points. Please advise. TIA!

    • Sorry I will update – I meant you get 50% more for the point. When you cash it in with the 35% rebate you essentially get 1.5 cents per point but that isn’t very clear the way I worded it. Thanks!
