PSA: Keep a record of gift card multi-pack blister packaging – DEM Flyers

I have a feeling Costco would have made the credit work but Sam’s Club sucks when it comes to gift cards.  A good reminder to keep the packages until the balances are loaded or at least confirmed.

BANK OF AMERICA SHUTDOWN(S) – Million Mile Guy

Bank of America has become much tighter on applications and they do have terrible customer service but they are not as shut down happy as others.  Bill pay is usually a bad idea as is ever having a decent size negative balance, puts eyes on the account.  I am sure those two led to the shut down.

The Dark Side Of Earning Credit Card Points; PSA: Don’t Swipe For Others! – DansDeals

This story is so cringe-worthy in so many ways. I have wondered if miles and points is an addiction before.  It seems like it had similar results to a gambling addiction here.

Citi American Airlines Card To Lose 10% Rebate Benefit On May 1st- Doctor of Credit

Losing the 10% back on the American Airlines cards is a big loss.  Using the 10% perk was one of my favorite tricks if you were short a few miles.  It makes the cards go from 50/50 long term keepers to garbage can residers pretty quickly.

  1. Hey Mark, what are your thoughts on PFS? I have bought for them twice after seeing a post on Miles with no issues. I know the “only what you can afford to lose” mantra; I want your thoughts.

    • I think since the items are usually limited to one per person etc. the risk is a lot lower. It is also selling to a company that is looking to flip the item for profit where the article was about people essentially loaning money solely for points. I think there is still risk but it is a lot lower and the hit would be a few thousand dollars versus hundreds of thousands.

  2. LoL…the ‘Citi garbage can residers’ followed by BOA. Last week, I applied for a BOA business cash back card and today they sent me a long list of items they want (tax returns, pay stubs, blah blah). It’s like I am applying for a home loan where they want to know everything about you! Then again, in the last 15 months, I have two Alaska businesses cards, the business cash back card and MERRILL card. My credit score shows some 18 cards that I have, but I have had some 30 cards in the last 18 months (last summer, I cancelled 5 cards and 2 cards in November). Although, my credit score is at 800 and my salary is $140K per year. Amx doesn’t seem to care since I hold 10 of their cards including MS Platinum, what use to be the Mercedes Benze, Amx Bus Plat, among others. Despite this, Amx continue to approve additional cards (knock on wood!!).

    • It is pretty crazy what they ask for when applying for business cards if not auto approved. I got that from the $250 travel rewards biz card and said no thanks. A few weeks later I get a targeted offer for the cash biz card with a $200 bonus and auto approved. Like the 3rd time they have given it to me. Makes no sense…
