BBVA Compass NBA Amex Spending Offers
A couple of years ago I wrote about the BBVA Compass NBA Amex card and I know a lot of readers applied. As of now I believe this card is not available any longer, but I could be wrong about that. Anyway, I love this card since it has no annual fee and earns 5% cashback during the NBA All Star Weekend and the NBA Finals. It even has access to many Amex Offers as well!
While it is true that this gem isn’t as good as it once was due to new caps in place on the 5% earning, it still is a nice product. Unfortunately though many of us who were signed up received cards without chips. I have been finding that more and more places won’t accept it without a chip. For example, it was rejected when buying gift cards today at Saks to maximize that Amex Offer in-store.
How Order A Chipped BBVA Compass NBA Amex
To order a new card, I simply called 1-844-622-2282. After a short navigation of the menu I was on the phone with a representative who was able to process my request. He even asked if I wanted to change the team and confirmed the new card would come with a chip. It will be in my mailbox within 7-10 business days.
The timing of this is perfect considering the NBA Finals begin on June 1 and my favorite mall won’t take this card anymore due to the lack of a chip. Problem solved.
Surprise Bonus Offers
When digging through my account today I also managed to find some cool offers I had never seen before. There has always been a “My Offers” link on the top right, but whenever I click it (including today) it says I don’t have any offers.
Thankfully this other way I found to the offers is much more fruitful. To start, it seems these offers are run by the same company behind Citi & BofA’s offerings. While most of them aren’t of great use to me, I was happy to see a Directv Now $35 offer that was loadable to my card. I pay $35 a month for Directv Now so that should be a free month.
To access the offers login on BBVACompass.com and click the link into your credit card account.
Once inside the account, look for the “Simple Cash Back” section on the right and click the “View More Offers” button.
Once inside you can click any offer to load it to your account. I don’t have much use for most of the offers but the $35 Directv Now deal is like cash in my pocket!
Amex Offers
As a reminder, this card is also eligible for many Amex Offers. To get Amex Offers on this card you must link it to a Twitter or other social media account. You can find all of the info on how to do it and automate the offer system here.
Conclusion
If you haven’t already switched your BBVA Compass NBA Amex to a chip card yet then now is the time to do it. Thankfully I had been able to max out the 5% at places that still accepted it, but the doors seem to be closing on that and I’ll be glad to get a new card in the mail. Between the new chip, the $35 Directv Now offer and the Amex Offers I get on this card, I am a happy long term customer.
