Choosing what makes a “best airport” is not always straightforward. Here at Miles to Memories we all have different opinions on what really matters.

Then there are plenty of rankings, such as the World’s Best Airports or Best Airport in North America based on a passenger satisfaction survey. But what if you are planning a trip that involves a long layover? Which airport would be the best option?

Club Med has done just that, ranking each airport layover using factors such as how easy it is to get there, distance from the city, friendliness of the staff, presence of airport hotels, day rooms and sleep pods. It also takes into consideration the number of restaurants/food retailers and lounge services.

When booking an itinerary with a long layover, is always  a good idea to read up on the amenities and services available at the airport. This way you can prepare for your long stay there and see where you can eat, what you can check out and if visiting the city is an option.

Take advantage of on-site hotels, sleep pods and relaxation lounges to help you recharge. Most readers probably have access to lounges thanks to their credit cards, so you could net some big savings by skipping expensive restaurants.

Many airports also feature free exhibitions and art galleries, offering a great opportunity to learn more about the local culture.

  1. More airports need to have movie theaters, game arcades, strip clubs and shoe stores.

    That pretty much covers everyone.
