Capital One Application Rules

There are a couple of things we should point out about Capital One’s application rules before we dive into these offers.

Capital One is a difficult approval and it pulls your credit from all three bureaus. If you value your hard inquiries then you should be aware of that. They also have the following application rules:

  • Maximum of 2 personal cards at any time.
  • Only 1 new card every 6 months.

If you have already been approved for a Capital One card in the last 6 months you will be auto denied so don’t even try.

Final Thoughts

These are two of the best offers we have ever seen, across all card issuers. It is true, they both require a hefty amount of spend as well, the Spark Cash Plus in particular. Luckily, Capital One gives you longer than three months for the biggest parts of both offers. That makes it a little easier to swallow, not much but a little. I think most people can reach the $1700 a month for 6 months requirement of the Capital One Venture X.

If you were planning on grabbing one of these offers then be sure to give it the old college try before they go poof early next week. Capital One is still one of the toughest approvals out there but we have heard more success than normal on these cards. It moved from impossible to most likely not essentially.

  1. Do we know what the Venture X SUB will drop to? I’m 4/24 and won’t have another slot until June…so evaluating options.

    • We have no idea what it will be going to unfortunately. Is there a Chase card out there that you think has a more valuable offer? If so you could grab that and then try for the Venture X (if you can swing the spend on both). No sure thing you get the Venture X either with their tough approvals. I personally only thing the Ink offers or the British Airways offer are better right now. The CSP 80K in branch offer too if you can find a branch that has it. The rest of them are kind of meh. I guess the IHG Premier if you already have the IHG Select and want to carry both before the family rule kicks in is another consideration. Tough decision for sure…I probably only made it tougher lol
