Chase United MileagePlus

Chase MileagePlus Explorer 50,000 (55,000) Mile Offer

The news widely broke today about a 50,000 mile bonus offer on the Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card. In reality this bonus offer has been around for years, but it sometimes required a little trickery to get in on.

Today it appears that Chase made the 50,000 mile offer available via their affiliates. In case you were wondering, that is the reason you probably saw more than a few posts about the card today. I don’t have Chase affiliate links, so why am I posting about it? The answer is that there is an even better offer!

The Better Offer

Per PFDigest, there is an identical offer for the card that also comes with a $50 statement credit after first purchase. Lets take a look at the details of the offer which expires on September 2, 2014.

  • 50,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 during the first three months that the account is open.
  • $50 statement credit after first purchase.
  • 10,000 bonus miles after spending $25,000 on the card each year.
  • 5,000 bonus miles when you add an authorized user and they use their card during the first 3 months.
  • 2 United Club passes per year.
  • Free checked bag.
  • Priority Boarding.
  • $95 Annual Fee waived the first year.

For all of the details of the offer see the application page.

Breaking It Down

The Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card has great features such as no foreign transaction fees and primary auto insurance for car rentals. 50,000 (55,000) United miles are definitely valuable as well. Add in the benefits while flying United and the two club passes and this is a very solid deal for a good card.

With that said, if you apply through someone’s affiliate link, then you are essentially giving up $50. Their offer is good, but this one is better.

Conclusion

This 50,000 mile offer is very good, but has been around in some form for over two years. Unlike the Citi Executive 100k offer earlier this year, I wouldn’t rush out to get the card, especially with all of the other great offerings that Chase has.

If you have an immediate need for United miles or are otherwise in the market for this card, then I doubt you will find a better offer any time soon. Don’t forget to use this link though to make $50 extra!

  1. I recently applied for this card and was accepted. I was not able to use a link that gave the $50 credit. But while searching for some flights the $50 offer came up. Will they give me the $50 credit if I call?

    • Chase is good about matching offers within your first 90 days of getting a card. They should definitely match if you call or even better, you can just send them a message through the Message Center when you log in to your account. I think sending a message is a little easier and I have always had success in getting them to match this way.
