Last week I shared a pretty awesome package our friend Shira got from Chase. They had sent her a pretty cool sparkling wine gift box that came with a few bottles and a glass to sip it from. I thought it was a pretty cool marketing effort by Chase for some Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders that had held the card since it first launched. It seemed somewhat random who got it and who didn’t but it was to celebrate the card’s “birthday”.  Well, a few days later Shawn received a gift of his own, but it wasn’t sparkling wine. He received a Chase Sapphire Reserve headphones gift box that came with some other stuff as well. We had seen reports of others getting a few weeks back. It appears Chase isn’t done sending them out so keep hope alive!

So what was all included in this birthday surprise?  A pair of $200 headphones, although I have never heard of the brand, was the showstopper. There was also an Away amenity kit filled with goodies similar to what you get while flying up front. The big item in the amenity kit being the $40 face serum. Here are some pictures:

Chase Sapphire Reserve Headphones Gift – Final Thoughts

As a consumer I love stuff like this. An unexpected gift is always a win in my book. When the price tag has a few zeros behind it, even better! I am a little surprised that Chase is rolling out the red carpet here though. It is no secret that the Chase Sapphire Reserve has been a loss leader for them. The card was expensive to launch and they are not clearing profits from the cardholders either. That is why they have shifted their focus back to the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the recent refresh.  So why throw good money after bad here? I don’t know, but it ends up with some of us getting free stuff. So throw away Chase…throw away!

  1. I have a pair of Master and Dynamic over-the-ear headphones. They are an excellent high quality brand. Cheers!

      • They have a partnership with JetBlue and they gave us over-the-ear versions on a transcon Mint flight a couple weeks ago. They were definitely good quality and a cool retro design.

  2. I got a bunch of away packing cubes and the toiletry case that came above (silver metal). Not sure that is better than this, but it was a gift worth about $150

  3. You mentioned the first person had been a member since launch. Has that been consistent for all gifts or are there any data points out there of people who got the card a year later and received a gift?

    • I think that has been a constant but not everyone that has held since launch has got something so not sure what the criteria really is.
