Citi AAdvantage Platinum 50k Offers Dying
Yesterday I read a post over on MileValue saying that he was going to have to pull his 50k affiliate links for the AAdvantage Platinum Mastercard 50k offer today. He suggested that the public offer may be going back down to 30k.
This morning I checked the American Airlines site and found the following:
Then I went to the Citi site and found this:
So it does look like the 50k offer is “officially” gone. Fortunately there may still be hope.
The Hope
I have long looked to Flyertalk wikis to find zombie links. These links sometimes stick around for months after an offer is officially pulled. Thankfully the Flyertalk thread for these cards is among the most active and up to date.
After seeing the reduced offers, I headed over to this thread and clicked on links in the wiki. Luckily some of the 50k links still work. There is no way to know how long they will last. It could be hours or months. In my experience if the application says 50k, then Citi will honor that bonus.
Conclusion
If you were thinking about applying for a Citi AAdvantage Mastercard then you may want to consider doing it now. With the pressure from Barclay’s now gone, it seems like Citi has gone back to their normal 30k offer and who knows how long it will be before an increased bonus returns.

Shot in the dark here but have been trying to figure this out. I applied for another citi AA card about a year after the last one and was approved. However, I never got any bonus miles as it seems citi started enforcing the 18 month minimum. Did I accidentally reset the clock and now I have to wait even longer to get another card?
I believe you did reset the clock based on the data points that I have read. You could call Citi and ask or even better send them a secure message.
Ugh that’s brutal. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll send them a message.
Hey Shawn, I got the Citi AA Platinum in November so right at about 6 months ago. If I were to apply for the Citi AA Exec or the Citi Prestige cards would I get the bonus for either one of those if my current card is still open.
Thnaks,
Rusty
Thanks! Very helpful.
What’s the churnability on this card?
I got one a month back, can I get a new one and get the 50K bonus as well?
I know the AA exec churnability was great, I got the bonus 3 times in space of a year.
You can find the latest in the Flyertalk thread, but last time I checked it is once every 18 months and Citi is enforcing that limit.
