My MtM Swan Song, Thank You For The Memories

Wow, time has flown by. It has been five and a half years since I joined Miles to Memories (my first ever article – see how sad this offer is compared to today), even though it feels like just a few years ago. Okay, I am totally ignoring 2020, which felt like seven years on its own. But, besides that … you get the point. As you can tell from the title, I have a bit of news to share. Before I get to that I want to reminisce a bit, so please indulge me…

During the last five and a half years so much has happened in the travel, miles and points space, and of course, the world as a whole. I look back at how things have evolved in that relatively short time period, myself included, and I am somewhat in awe. For myself, I like to think I went from a not so great writer to a not so bad writer over that stretch of life. I could just be fooling myself there though! It has been a blessing to be able to work in an area that brings me so much joy. When you can turn your hobby into a career, that is really the sweet spot of life.

I couldn’t have done it without the help of Shawn. He really took a chance on me and I hope he feels like that was a gamble that paid off in spades. I sincerely thank you for giving me this opportunity.

It has been great working with him, and the entire Miles to Memories team over the years. So many long term friendships have been formed working with these amazing people. It is hard to ask for a better group of co-workers.

I would also like to thank you all for reading, listening and watching our content. It means more to me than you will ever know. I have really enjoyed getting to know so many of you at meetups, in the comments, in our Facebook Groups and via email. Without all of you there is no Miles to Memories, or any miles and points space for that matter. I’ll even give a shout out to the trolls, you keep me on my toes and always gave me a chuckle. So kudos to you as well!

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end though. I will be leaving Miles to Memories at the end of the year. I will still continue to do the MtM Vegas YouTube show with Shawn, so you won’t be rid of me completely!

I am not ready to discuss what is next yet, but I’ll announce it on Facebook and Twitter towards the end of the year if you are interested. Those are probably the best ways to stay in touch with me going forward as well.

It has been an amazing five and a half years and I thank all of you for taking the journey with me. I am excited for what is next and I can promise this isn’t the last you’ll see of me. Happy Holidays to everyone and I look forward to closing out this year alongside all of you. Let’s finish it off with a bang!

  4. This sucks!! Shawn has made a lot of money off of me and you! I always tried to do my credit card applications through MTM because you actually replied to peoples emails and comments.

Love all of you guys on the podcast. Have listened to every episode. Its one of the highlights of my week. (I know i need to get a life 🙂

Hey does this mean I can now join the MTM Diamond group since your leaving will open up a spot? LoL but serious 🙂

Well I hope your going to continue in the media world. Your very good at it!!

    • Thanks for the kind words and you cracked me up with this for sure! Appreciate the support throughout the years and I think there will be some Diamond slots opening soon if you are interested. I’ll still be in the space so no worries there 😉

  5. I will miss listening to you weekly and all the great articles. So glad that CITI is gaining someone that can help out in IT.

  6. Awww I will miss your writing so much!! I learned so much from you and always looked forward to your articles. Best of luck to you Mark!

  7. Been a listener since episode #1…..wow. It won’t be the same without you- you guys have such great chemistry! We’ll miss you Mark, but wish you the best!!

  8. Mark, I have to be honest. When I discovered MtM online I loved the articles…but what I didn’t love was your laughter. If I could describe the sound of your laughter to my ears…imagine a really bad car accident involving a bunch of cats. Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration…but I did not care for it…at all.

Now here we are…years later. And the same laughter that used to bother me is one that I’ve grown to know, love, and extremely sad that I won’t be hearing anymore my Thursday morning drive into the office. I’m really going to miss you my friend. It’s because of you that I joined the MtM Diamond group and it’s certainly going to be different without you.

I can’t wait to see what your next chapter is and hope that somehow we, those that have come to know and love you, can be part of it or at the very least, be able to watch from afar.

    Take care my friend!

    • Haha – glad you finally came to the dark side! Appreciate you supporting us over the years, even early on when it brought you pain!
