Earlier in the week I talked quite a bit about portals with the return of American Express gift cards to sites like BeFrugal & Top Cashback (personal referral links). Today I want to discuss some more shopping portal news by highlighting a new promotion from the Aadvantage eShopping Portal and showing you Frequent Miler’s new tool to track portal payouts!

Up to 5x Bonus Miles Per Dollar At AA Portal

The American Airlines AAdvantage shopping portal rolled out a promotion earlier this week which pays tiered bonuses. The promotion, which runs until 10/16/2014, pays 500 bonus miles for $100 in spend, 1,000 bonus miles for $300 in spend or 2,000 bonus miles for $500 in spend.

If you spend $100 or $500, then you are basically getting a bonus of 5 miles per dollar. Remember that these bonus miles are in addition to whatever the portal is paying out for the store that you shop in. While this deal is pretty good, I only consider it a warm up before the holiday season. Last year we saw similar bonuses at almost all of the airline shopping portals during the holiday season.

*Terms: From 10/01/14 to 10/16/14 11:59 PM EST receive a one-time bonus of up to 2,000 bonus miles from AAdvantage eShopping mall℠. Spend a cumulative amount of $100 – $299 to earn 500 bonus miles; spend a cumulative amount of $300-$499 to earn 1,000 bonus miles; or spend a cumulative amount of $500 or more to earn 2,000 bonus miles. Maximizing portal payouts is one of the very best ways to earn miles/points. Some people use portal payouts to buy and sell merchandise while others just make sure to use a portal when buying things they already need. Either way portals are a great way to bump your miles/points balance.

Frequent Miler has always been great at talking about portals and informing people of increased payouts, however he has now teamed with Cashback Monitor to take it to a new level. FM has launched a new tool called Portal Alerts which tracks portal payouts day to day. The best part is that you can subscribe and have them sent directly to your inbox. Green means an increased payout and red means decreased. Simple and incredibly useful!

Conclusion

If you already have plans to do some shopping, check out the AA portal to see if it is worth shifting your spend to them. I always suggest using a comparison site like Cashback Monitor or Cashbackaholic to make sure the portal you are using is giving the best payout. Happy shopping!
