Virgin Atlantic Zeros Out All Frequent Flyer Accounts

Update 1/11/22: Everyone’s points should be showing in their account once again.

I am not entirely sure what is going on but I figured I would let you know that you are not alone in this.  A buddy reached out to me to say 400,000 Virgin Atlantic miles vanished from his account. I fired up my account and it showed a big fat zero as well. My wife’s too. A few other friends checked their accounts, same thing.

So what the heck is going on? I am guessing it is some type of back end thing Virgin is working on. A random IT issue, or update, that has wiped everyone’s account to nothing for the time being. Did Brad Pitt just Fight Club us or what?

I have reached out to them via Twitter to get an update and will update the post if I hear anything back. Hopefully this is a short term issue. But if you had planned to book some flights with Virgin Atlantic miles today you may be stuck waiting a bit.

Update 1/10/21: The Virgin Atlantic social media team is aware of the situation and said it is an IT issue that is making the accounts look empty but they are in fact fine. No word on when it should be fixed.

  1. While you’re tweeting VA, ask them when Delta First Class award seats will return for more than a random flight here are there. Covid canned my Delta One flight with VA miles and now I’m trying to use them on something. Even domestic economy Delta is hard to come by, at least for me from Colorado to anywhere.

    • That all has to do with Delta unfortunately and they have been blocking almost everything from partners 🙁

  2. Ironically, my 164 points are still in there. I just did the status match to Gold successfully, but who knows. Hope everyone gets back their points.
