Death of the 75k Offer?
Yesterday I wrote about the new feature of the American Express Business Rewards Gold card where you get to choose which category earns 3X Membership Rewards points. In doing research for that post, I was trying to find the best current offer for the card. I naturally started by trying to replicate the 75,000 point offer from last year.
A Little Background
The normal public affiliate offer gives 25,000 Membership Rewards points after $5,000 in spending. Do not apply for this. You can definitely do better. The question is, “How much better”?
Last year, the American Express Business Rewards Gold website was giving targeted offers to visitors. Some people who visited received the normal 25,000 bonus offer, some received an offer for 50,000 points and others received an offer for 75,000 Membership Rewards points after $10,000 in spending.
As I wrote last year, I picked up the card with the 75,000 bonus point offer and have been really happy with it. Since it can be tricky to get the 75,000 point offer to show up, I performed several tests over the past two days to see if it is still available. My results are not 100% definitive, but I believe they are pretty thorough.
Trying To Replicate It
To replicate the offer, I first used a service called Browser Shots to pull up the Amex website in 113 different browsers. I then used another site Browser Stack to pull it up in an additional 25 browsers including a variety of mobile devices. Finally, I tried to bring the site up on all of my devices and browsers.
Unfortunately the bad news is that I was unable to get the 75,000 point offer to appear. Fortunately, the 50,000 point version showed up quite regularly and should be pretty easy to get. To see the 50,000 point offer, simply visit this page. If it doesn’t show on the first try, use a different broswer and/or incognito or private mode. More instructions here.
Conclusion
I decided to post my findings since others have been publicizing the card’s inferior 25,000 Membership Rewards points offer. If you are in the market for the American Express Business Rewards Gold card, it looks like the 50,000 point offer is the best that is available based on my testing.
Has anyone out there been able to get the 75,000 point offer to show recently? Let me know in the comments.

i just clicked on your 50K offer link and it brought up the 75K offer for 10K spending
I think if you log into your account and find out that the offer is not available to you, and then go and call to apply, the phone rep might see that you’ve already tried for this offer and were denied once…. so not likely they would offer you the 75k.
I did try to log in and got an error that systems were down and to pls call. I called and went thru the application with a rep who confirmed the 75k after 5k. I wasn’t immediately approved but called a few hours later to verify information and was approved right away. Again I confirmed that it was 75k after 5k.
THANK YOU for posting JRM!! Desperately needed this so I wouldn’t lose my MR points as I have to close platinum this month.
I’m glad calling in worked for you. Thanks for sharing your experience!
That’s awesome!
Thank you for posting.

[…] Is the 75k Offer for the Amex Business Rewards Gold Still Available? by Miles To Memories, cool way of checking multiple browsers at once. I think it’s flawed though as I’ve gotten the offer to appear within the last month. […]
Hey. I can get the 75k offer to work for me every time i open in Firefox. I just tried it 3 mins ago.

The offer you link to is completely different. It is targeted and requires signing into an account. Very very few people have actually been able to apply for that because they get an error. This offer showed when you loaded the main Business Gold Rewards page.
strange as i was not targeted for it but applied for it on friday with success. Agent even confirmed bonus
I got the 75k to appear but it wants me to apply by signing into my account. Any way around this?
That version is a targeted offer. You have to sign in and see if you are allowed to apply. Most people just get an error message.
But what’s wrong with signing into account? I did it last week with zero prob
Agreed. I have tried to sign in on mine and always get an error. You are directly on the Amex website, so I don’t see any issue with signing in.
[…] I was thinking of trying for the Amex Business Rewards Gold 75k offer. Online, at least, it seems to be head. I love Miles to Memories’ creative way to test browsers on a massive scale. […]
got it last week. customer service confirmed the 75,000 when I called to activate. can’t remember which blogger’s link I used to get it
I should have mentioned it in the post, but there is a targeted link to a 75k offer that a few people have been able to get. You can find more information here, but it is highly targeted. http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2015/01/18/american-express-business-rewards-gold-75k/
i’ve been hitting refresh on every browser in incognito mode, in blatant mode, in desperation mode, and the most i ever got was 50. it’s been 2 months. I think it’s time for me to move on and hope it returns one day.
It was active as recent as a about a month ago, but I agree. The offer is gone. Thankfully the 50k offer is decent if anyone is looking to get the card now.
Sorry, nothing to add to your analysis. Just had to say that it was a pretty cool use of those multi-browser services. Fortunately, I got in on the 75k when you posted it. But haven’t checked since.
Yeah I was just doing it as a follow up. I have seen a lot of 25k bonus posts lately, so thought I would let people know what is out there.
