For that reason it sits high in our wallet. It even ranks among our “best no annual fee credit cards“. In this Chase Ink Business Cash credit card review, we’ll take a look at the card and why it is a winner for many business owners.

Chase Ink Business Cash – Welcome Offer

The current welcome offer on the Chase Ink Cash is:

Our Take: This is one of our favorite offers and is extremely high for a no annual fee card. Learn More.

Chase Ink Business Cash – Bonus Restrictions

The Chase Ink Business Cash card falls under the infamous Chase 5/24 rule.  Click the link for more info, but basically you won’t be approved if you have opened up 5 or more revolving accounts in the past 24 months.

In addition to 5/24, most Chase cards require at least 2 years before you can get a card again, but not this one! There is no such terminology/restriction in the Ink Business Cash terms, meaning you can potentially get this welcome offer for a second business if you have had the card before. Make sure to check the latest data points to see how Chase is enforcing this.

It is also worth noting that Chase has been shutting down accounts of people with too many recent applications and for people with too much credit available to them across all banks.  These are two things to be aware of for sure. Most people eligible for this card will not have this problem since they would have less than 5 applications in the last 2 years.

You can earn 5X points in certain categories including office supply and internet!

Chase Ink Business Cash – Bonus Categories

This card is really a winner when it comes to bonus categories. Thats especially true if you consider it has no annual fee! We rack up huge amounts of points with the 5X bonus categories. Even the 2X categories are nice in a pinch, as well.

The Chase Ink Business Cash card comes with the following earning structure:
  • 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year at Office Supply Stores and on Internet, phone, and cable services.
  • 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year at gas stations and restaurants.
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases.

Points or Cashback?

While Chase uses the term “cashback”, you are actually earning Ultimate Rewards points that can be redeemed for $.01 cash each. These points only become transferable to travel partners if you hold a premium Ultimate Rewards card (one with an annual fee). Then, your points suddenly have much more potential value.

If you have any of the following cards, the Ink Cash’s points become transferable to travel partners:

Transferring your Chase Ink Cash points to one of the cards above also allows you to use the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal to book travel, as well.  If you do not have a premium Chase Ultimate Rewards-earning card, then the points earned with your Ink Cash card will only be redeemable for cash back at 1 cent a piece.

Primary rental car insurance is one of the best perks of the Chase Ink Cash business credit card.

Chase Ink Business Cash –  Cardmember Perks

While you will want to get a more premium credit card if you are looking for elite status and other high-end perks, the Chase Ink Business Cash delivers above its pay grade on features, considering the lack of an annual fee. With purchase protection and primary rental car insurance on business trips, it offers some features generally reserved for premium travel cards.

The Chase Ink Business Cash comes with the following perks, even though it has no annual fee:

  • Primary car rental insurance – it must be a business rental
  • Extends the time period of U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year on eligible warranties of three years or less
  • Covers your new purchases for up to 120 days against damage or theft, up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account

Ultimate Rewards points are valuable for travel if you also combine this card with a premium Chase product.

How Much Is the Welcome Offer Worth?

The Chase Ink Cash’s welcome offer is pretty simple. On the surface, it is worth $900. However, you have the potential to unlock more value if you pair it with one of the premium Ultimate Rewards cards mentioned above.

In our opinion, transferable Ultimate Rewards points are worth at least 1.5 cents each when redeemed for travel. That makes this bonus potentially worth $1,350 if you are also carrying one of the other premium Chase Cards.

Chase Ink Business Cash Review – Bottom Line

The Chase Ink Business Cash really shines with its 5X earning categories.  It is the only card still publicly available that earns 5x Ultimate Rewards on a consistent basis, since the Chase Ink Plus was discontinued.  With the $25,000 yearly cap on 5X earning, you have the potential of earning 125K Ultimate Rewards points every year fairly easily.

Where the card becomes valuable is when you pair it with an annual fee card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase’s most popular card Sapphire Preferred.  You can even pair it with the Chase Ink Preferred, since they complement each other nicely.  This unlocks the Chase Ink Cash’s points and allows you to transfer them to valuable travel partners like Hyatt and United Airlines, etc. See our step-by-step guide on how to do that here.

With all of that said, even as a strictly cash back card, the Chase Ink Cash has a decent value when considering all of the perks and earning potential.

Conclusion

The Chase Ink Business Cash credit card is a favorite here at Miles to Memories. With the generous 5X and 2X categories – plus some very useful perks and no annual fee – we feel this card is worth getting and keeping long term. The welcome offer is a nice bonus for signing up, but this card continues to deliver as you keep it, which is also important.

To sum it up: we have this card, we carry this card, we use this card and we love this card.

    • You do need a business since it is a business card. Many people do things that constitutes as a business like sell items on eBay or own a rental house etc.

  1. I’ve kept this card long term now and find it especially more valuable now that I can just call up and transfer my points to my UR points balance with my CSR card, upping my value to 1.5% instead of 1.25% for travel purchases.
