Chase Ink Plus Referral & Getting the Overall Best Offer

Chase has temporarily upped the bonus on their Ink Plus card from 50,000 points to 60,000 points after spending $5,000 during the first three months. This is a great offer, especially considering it may be going down to 40,000 points soon.

There are a few things to consider with this new offer:

  • You get 10,000 more points than the old offer.
  • You pay the $95 annual fee the first year instead of it being waived.

So what Chase has done is made the offer look flashier on the surface than it really is. I value Ultimate Rewards at 1.7 cents each based on my past redemptions, so I see the points as being worth $170 more. If you factor in the annual fee, this new offer is only $75 better than the old one.

Don’t pay the annual fee if you don’t have to!

You Can Do Better

Thankfully there is a better option and I highly urge everyone who is looking to apply to do this. Go into your local branch and apply. By doing this you will receive the increased 60,000 bonus point offer & the annual fee will be waived the first year. That means the in-branch offer is worth $170 more than the normal offer.

Bonus Match

What if you applied for the card under the old bonus? Will Chase match you to the new one? They should, but you need to make sure to ask for the right thing. Since the 50,000 bonus point offer waived the annual fee and 60,000 point offer doesn’t, they will most likely deny your claim.

In order to get them to match the increased offer, make sure to mention the waived annual fee in-branch. If you specifically ask them to match the 60,000 point offer with no annual fee, the only difference is the bonus amount. Many people have had success doing this.

Make sure to tell your friends how they can save $95 by applying in-branch!

Current holders of the Chase Ink Plus card can also refer their friends and earn 5,000 bonus points. The only way I would suggest applying online is if you don’t have a branch or if you value the time it takes to apply in branch at $95 or more.

To refer your friends, simply visit chasereferafriend.com and follow the prompts. The key to getting your referral link is to click to share via Twitter. It will popup a tweet that contains your link. If you refer via email it can take several days.

Here is my personal referral link and you can also apply for a variety of cards through my banners on the site. With that said, I urge you to consider the best offer, which is the one only available in branch. While I love free points, I would much rather you keep the $95 in your pocket!!!

Conclusion

The Chase Ink Plus is an amazing card. Even with the recent loss of Lounge Club, I feel the card provides an outstanding value with its 5x bonus categories. If I didn’t already have a card then I would be applying for this offer in-branch.

  1. Hi Shawn,

I already have Ink Plus and would like to create a referral link for my friend to apply, but when I went to chasereferafriend website link and put my last name, zip code, and last 4 of my Ink Plus card, it says:
“The information you provided does not match any of our current Chase Refer-A-Friend promotions. Please check to make sure you entered your information correctly, and continue to check back to see if your card becomes eligible in the future.”

Why is this happen and how to create my referral link for Ink Plus then?

  2. I went to the local branch and got the 60k offer, but when I asked about waiving the AF, I was told they could not do that.

  3. Hi Shawn, I enjoy reading your blog. I’m not interested in the Ink plus but if you have a referral link to Cash ink, I’ll sign up to support the site. Just give me the link or tell me where to sign up.

    More power to you!

  4. Any idea what the time limit for having already applied and asking for a match to the newer offer? I had applied in the middle of January for inkcash and actually just received the bonus miles on my last statement

  5. Last year when the bonus went to 70k with $95 fee. We had gotten my wife the 60k with no fee a couple of months before. They would not give us the extra 10k points because the offer was different, since the fee was waived for us in year 1. I tried multiple times, but received the same answer.

I do plan to apply for the Ink Cash later today (after work) since that is 30k right now. I see you have a link for it as well 🙂

    • Yeah I had the same issue with the 70k offer last year as well. The key for Chase is making sure the AF is the same on both offers. Thanks Dustin and if you use my link, thanks for the support! I plan on picking up an Ink Cash myself as well during this promotion.
