Credit Karma Equifax Addition – The Service Continues to Improve
I have been a long time user of both Credit Karma and Credit Sesame. Both companies launched similar services a couple of years ago offering consumers free access to their “FAKO” credit scores in exchange for targeted offers.
This past year with more and more banks offering free actual FICO scores, the services have had to step it up. Both began offering credit monitoring earlier this year and Credit Karma began giving consumers access to their full Transunion reports recently.
While there isn’t much new from Credit Sesame, Credit Karma continues to improve. Yesterday they announced the rollout of Equifax credit scores and reports for all of their members in addition to the Transunion information currently available.
While most members should already have the Equifax information showing in their accounts, the rollout is still going on.
My Thoughts
My account has been updated with all of the new features & information. As was the case before, Credit Karma uses the Vantage Score 3.0 model to calculate your score, which means it isn’t going to be as accurate as an actual FICO score.
When looking at your credit reports, Credit Karma very nicely places summaries from both reports side by side for comparison. If you want more details, you can then click through for a look at your full report from each credit monitoring agency. Very well done.
With the addition of Equifax and a revamp of their site design, Credit Karma has taken a strong leap forward in improving their service. Credit Sesame is starting to lag behind, since they only offer one credit agency (Experian) and charge for access to your full report.
Conclusion
To see if you have the new Equifax information in your Credit Karma account, simply login to look. If it isn’t showing yet, Credit Karma has said they are rolling out the new information to all of their account holders, so it should be there soon.

I am trying to sign to get my credit score
I am not affiliated with Credit Karma. They do provide a free version of your score. Go to their website at http://www.creditkarma.com to register with them.
Yup this has been added to my Credit Karm account. But now lets talk about accuracy. I pulled my real Equifax credit score, and then my Credit Karma Equifax score on the same day. There was a variance of 117 points. So while it is nice to see the second score, it would be nicer if it was even relatively accurate. My conclusion is simple, the new addition of an Equifax credit score through Credit Karma is worth exactly what you paid for it…nothing. So please people, do not put your faith in these scores, pull your real score from Equifax, or you could have a nasty surprise if you try to initiate new credit.
Yeah it is still not a real FICO score and thus has limited value. Mine is normally about 30 points less than my real FICO. Credit Karma and Credit Sesame are struggling I think since FICO scores are becoming widely available from the banks.
[…] Credit Karma’s free service has added Equifax (Miles to Memories). Most free services only provide the least useful bureau, TransUnion. I have consistently had wide gaps with these services and my FICO score as reported when I am approved or denied credit. […]
Some odd things on my EQ report from CK…. Says pull was today, but I have a couple old accounts on there that aren’t on my EQ report I pulled from EQ yesterday. Also, says I have 3 AMEX missed payments. I know that never happened and isn’t on my direct EQ pull yesterday……
