Directv Signup Bonuses
This morning I received an email from American Airlines AAdvantage offering 25,000 miles for signing up for Directv. Since football season is about to start, I thought it would be a good idea to roundup the various specials for signing up for the service. You can earn free hotel nights, airline miles & even hundreds of dollars in cashback. Let’s take a look.
Before Signing Up
These offers all require a two year contract with Directv. While getting free stuff for signing up is good, there is no point in committing to a two year agreement with steep cancellation fees if you aren’t already going to sign-up for television service. With that out of the way, lets look at some of the various offers.
3 Big Offers – American, United & Hilton
Three of the biggest and well known offers available are from American Airlines, United and Hilton HHonors. By signing up for Directv you can receive 25,000 miles from American, 30,000 from United or two free weekend nights at just about any Hilton in the world. (I believe the certs work the same as with the Citi HHonors Reserve card.)
By signing up through each of the various links below you get:
- Free genie upgrade
- 3 months of HBO, Cinemax, Showtime & Starz for free
- 2015 NFL Sunday Ticket included for free
Offer Links
- American AAdvantane Offer – 25,000 Miles
United MileagePlus Offer – 25,000 MilesUnited MileagePlus Offer – 30,000 Miles- Hilton HHonors Offer – 2 Free Weekend Nights
HT: Thanks to DaninMCI for letting me know that the United 30K link was still working.
BeFrugal or Simply Best Coupons Cashback
If you aren’t into the whole travel thing, then you can do quite well by going through either the BeFrugal or Simply Best Coupons portals. Right now BeFrugal (referral) is offering $220 cashback and Simply Best Coupons (referral) is offering $221 for signing up for Directv through their portal. Pretty good and the package comes with the same genie upgrade, free premium channels and Sunday Ticket, but there is one difference.
When I clicked through the portal links I noticed that you receive the public offer that is found on the Directv website. Instead of the base package being $29.99 per month for a year like with the other offers, through BeFrugal & SBC you only pay $19.99 per month. Basically, it is like another $120 in savings over the Hilton, United and American Airlines offers.
Which Is Best
Since I consider the BeFrugal & SBC offers to be worth $340 ($341) they are probably the best overall value for most people. 25K or 30K miles can be more valuable, but only if you use them for international redemptions, meaning you would need to pool them with other American or United miles since this bonus won’t get you far by itself.
The offer that has the most potential of value is the Hilton offer. For example, I am using my 2 free weekend nights from the Reserve card at the Grand Wailea in Maui in October. I believe the Directv free nights work the same way. For the two nights of my stay, the cost of the hotel is almost $900. Unfortunately a lot of people will probably redeem their certificates in much cheaper properties.
Honorable Mentions
Southwest is offering 12,500 points through their portal (with the extra $10 off too). Barclay’s Rewards Boost is also offering 15,000 miles or around $150, although I would just go for the straight cashback portal deal from either BeFrugal or Simply Best Coupons. You can see all of the portal payouts for Directv over at Cashback Monitor.
Shop Around
I am not advocating Directv over any other service. When shopping for television service or just about anything else, you should find the best price and package that works for you. The main purpose of this article was to present the top bonus offers for signing up for Directv since I know a lot of people will most likely be switching as the football season begins.
Conclusion
If you are looking to sign-up for Directv, the worst thing you could do is go directly to their website. By clicking through in the correct way, you can get hundreds of dollars, thousands of miles or even two free nights in five star hotels. Great deals all around if you are already in the market for television service.

Any suggestions on where to look for an updated list of deals?
There’s also currently a Bank of America offer (“BankAmeriDeals”) for $125 back after paying the first two monthly bills of your Directv account with the associated BofA credit card.
The offer does say “New approved customers only. Must sign up directly through DIRECTV, sign-ups through Authorized Dealers not eligible. First 2 monthly service bills of at least $19.99+ must be paid separately no later than 12/20/15 using the card associated with the offer to earn $125 cash back.” but I’m not sure if that is meant to also exclude using cash back portals.
If you can get $125 from BofA and $220 from a portal, and the service costs you $19.99/month, then over a period of 24 months the overall out of pocket cost will be 19.99*24-125-220 = $134.76, or $5.6 per month, which is 72% off the original cost ($19.99/month).
Thanks for sharing! The more options the better.
United also has a 30k sign up offer.
Thanks I searched this morning and couldn’t find a working 30K link. Your comment inspired me to look harder and I did find one. I appreciate it!
I just signed up for AT&T Uverse — TV and internet service. AT&T was offering a $250 gift card for bundling, and Ebates offered another $200. Together, I think we did pretty well. Plus, AT&T doesn’t seem to have all the add-on surprises that I’ve found with Directv in the past (yes, they say $19.95 per month, but in my experience it ends up being much more expensive by the time you’re done.) Of course, now that AT&T has bought Directv, it’ll be interesting to see what changes are in store.
I’m a long-time Directv customer. Good reminder that it’s time to make my annual August call. Usually get a retention offer (have to offer to quit) for the NFL package and a bunch of other discounts (and sometimes free premium stations). Wish I was a new customer and could get a couple nights at the Grand Wailea!
