A New Series & What You Want to See Going Forward
Hello everyone! I am excited to announce that tomorrow morning we are launching a brand new series on Miles to Memories. This new series will be informational and will also mark the first time that a non-guest post from another author has appeared on the site.
The new series is called Easy Trips for Two and is written by Noah who also owns and writes the excellent blog Money Metagame. So what is this new series about? Well it is designed to easily show readers how a couple can achieve a trip for much less than retail. I write a lot about family travel, so I thought this would be useful to provide a different perspective.
Noah describes the new series this way. “The goal of Easy Trips For Two is to walk through an entire trip from start to finish with all of the details necessary to get you there with little to no out of pocket cost. From earning the miles to redeeming them for the perfect trip, even brand new miles enthusiasts can start planning their first big trip.”
So I am excited to bring you this content every two weeks and think it will be a great addition to the site. Even if he is writing about places you won’t travel, hopefully it will expose you to new techniques and ideas you hadn’t previously thought about.

Both Noah and I are really interested to hear your feedback about this series and what you like and don’t like about it so that we can make it better. The truth is I actually love to hear feedback about everything on the site, because feedback helps to stave off complacency. As long as this isn’t a circles and arrows series that exposes techniques that shouldn’t be talked about on searchable sites, it might be a good addition. But based on your introduction, seems like it just might be everything and the kitchen sink, which would be a terrible development.
What really is bugging me is the “pop-up” that juts out from the lower right side of the screen. What is the point of it? All it does is repeat what is already listed. It is a nuisance.
I’m sorry Rick. The vast majority of people come to the site on a post as opposed to the homepage. This lets them see the other recent posts. Clicking the X to close it will disable the popup for 3 days. With that said, I will definitely take your feedback into consideration.
Perhaps some trips that didn’t do everything first class? Or, even better, a choice of specific hotel choices in your featured destination (for instance, for a trip to City A, you could stay at the Hampton Inn on Boulevard Drive OR the Hyatt Downtown OR the Starwood Central). It would be nice to have several classes of vetted hotels represented within the destination. I would also love info on non-tourist options–locals’ restaurant, unusual attractions, interesting nearby towns if someone wanted to add a day trip. You wouldn’t have to go into all options, but could include a link to “insider’s info.” Sounds like a great series–I’ll look forward to seeing it. And thanks for asking for ideas!
As 1/2 of a childless couple that loves to travel, I can hardly wait! Great idea.
I’m not sure what the style or format of the series will be, but one possibility would be to incorporate some different ongoing deals together. For instance, IHG point breaks with Flying Blue deals, or something along those lines.
Sounds like a great idea. Noah’s blog is valuable and I follow his posts whenever possible.
I’m not sure what format or flow each new post will use, but I’d personally like to see a cliffs/bullet point of which sites were used, what apps, which cards etc. Almost like a packing list or DIY parts list for a cabinet project that’s easy to digest and see if I even have all the “tools” available to emulate the trip.
