Why You Shouldn’t Use Our (Or Anyone’s) Amex Platinum Links
Update 7/1/21: This is as true now as the day I wrote it. There are 125K public links easily available and there is even a 125K off via referral that can net the referrer up to 45K themselves. Friends don’t let friends sign up for bad offers ;).
Are you Platinum’d out yet? It is like every day Amex adds something a little better to their Amex Platinum offer. First it was the Resy offer for 75K in Membership Rewards points, $300 in restaurant rebates plus 10X earning on gas and groceries. Then they rolled out a 100K offer with the 10X earning that you could get with some effort and a clean browser. Lastly, they targeted some people with a 125K offer plus the 10X earning. Absolute insanity! Anyone that played the 100K waiting game, for years, was paid off in spades. But, do you know one thing these offers all have in common? They are better than the affiliate channel offer of 75K plus the 10X earning. If you were to apply through our, or anyone’s affiliate link, you would miss out on an extra 25K-50K Membership Rewards or $300 in statement credits. So don’t do it!
The Dirty Secret – How Blogs Make Money
It is no secret that one of the way blogs make money is via credit card affiliate links. Credit cards play a big role in how we are able to keep our content free. It, of course, is not the only revenue stream. We also get ad revenue when you view a page and there are other affiliate sources like Amazon or things like SoFi Money etc.
The three put together keep the lights on essentially. Having said that we will never put revenue earning above our readers. We are interested in a long term relationship, not a one night stand. Shawn has spent years building this community based on honesty and integrity and that has been a source of honor for everyone that writes for the site. We try to put you guys first and pride ourselves on trying to give you the best information possible. That is why we covered all of the different Platinum offers even though we could have instead put our affiliate link out there. That wouldn’t have been fair to you.
Final Thoughts
This was a brief PSA but it is something that needed to be said. We appreciate any and all support you, the reader, give us. Whether it is reading our work, watching our YouTube videos, listening to the podcast, clicking through our Amazon link before buying some beef jerky 😎 or using a credit card affiliate link when it is the best offer available.
We are humbled every day by the fact that you come to read, watch and listen. It is something we are eternally grateful for. And I promise that you will always remain first here at Miles to Memories.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Nice show of integrity.
We are here to give you good info, entertainment and some help along the way. Not to make a quick buck 🙂
Always appreciate you reading and commenting so often Christian. It means a ton to us!
I have amex platinum card. Can I apply for another and get the bonus?
Depends which version of Amex Platinum you have
Good for you for posting this!
Something that needed to be said HoKo 😉
If @travelbloggerbuzz endorses you, that’s high praise.
Cool! Not too many bloggers say that.
This is why you made the most prestigious Blogs To Like list that exists…mine 🙂
But…you still link to sites that screw their readers. Why?
Can you explain which links are screwing the readers? I think for the most part I believe the referrals & promo links and help the readers. Promo links to deals saves me a lots of time from having to search for it myself and most referral links are dual benefit were its a win win money maker for the new user and the referrer. Plus nobody forces any reader to click on links its by choice. Not only does clicking on it saves me times it also keeps the blog in business which is why im here in the first place. I look at is as supporting a local business. In the one case where the link is not to our benefit Mark was upfront and honest about it telling us NOT to use any links.
As a reader im confused by your comment, which links are actual screwing us?
It is just now that the 100K and 125K offer are out that we got ‘screwed’ of we used the blog link.
Other times keep using their links.
If I get info from a story someone writes I am going to give them credit George 😉
Appreciate the honesty and candor. +rep
Thanks
