Amex UberEats Credits Are Going Haywire, What Is Going On?

Which Credit Cards Offer Credits, Discounts, Or Free Food Delivery?

Bonus Amex UberEats Credits

Normally December is the month of bonus Amex UberEats credits for Amex Platinum cardholders since you get an additional $20 this month. That is on top of the normal $15 you get every month as a card holder. But it looks like UberEats wanted Amex Gold cardholders to get in on the fun as well.  Or did they?

We have seen numerous reports, and I got one as well, of peoples accounts getting a message saying they were getting a $10 bonus added to their account. This seems to be happening to some Platinum and Gold cardholders.  Other Platinum cardholders are actually getting their $35 monthly amount added again.  But, then they are removed a few hours or a day later. One of our Facebook Group moderators even had his $35 taken away that he still had for the month and then added back again plus an extra $10.

It is safe to say that UberEats Amex cardholder credits has gone haywire.  Some decided to take the offer on its face and use the credit immediately and it worked. Others waited too long and the credit vanished as quickly as it came. If you used the error credit there is a chance of a clawback, or Amex adding a charge to your card. If it were any other card issuer I would say that is unlikely but since it is Amex I won’t put it past them. It is probably worth the risk though.

  1. Saw the platinum ($35) pop up in my uber account and used it within hours. The main charge went through, but the tip did not and showed up on my card. So far, no other charges. I MIGHT GET A FREE PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Yes, I got 3 Gold card credits and 1 Platinum $35 credit. I decided to use it yesterday and today they clawed them all back along with a charge on my preferred credit card for that restaurant charge. Extremely frustrating! I thought it was a holiday bonus.

  3. I called, because mine had $35×4. It’s an error. Amex is removing them. CSR said the used ones will be charged back.

  4. Got my $35, used it but had to contact CS to get the amount credited but it worked (so far anyway). Have another on P2 card that we may try today!
