Earn Miles Without Flying

If you’re looking for ways to earn even more airline miles to boost your balance, earning with that airline’s partners is a great option. With partnerships and alliances, you can earn  miles without flying in your favorite program via things like rental cars, shopping online, and even your electric bill. Here’s a look at the many ways to build up your frequent flyer miles stash without flying or opening a specific credit card.

Scope of This Post

We will consider airline programs that have bank point transfers in the U.S. That way, we are only considering programs where you can build up your stash of points via transfers AND earning in other means. This also means we won’t consider programs like Royal Air Maroc Safar Flyer. While it is a member of the Oneworld alliance and has means for earning points & miles, it has no bank transfer partners to help accumulate miles for redemption bookings.

We also aren’t going to mention every credit card that earns miles with these programs, since those are quite obvious. Instead, we want to draw your attention to partner programs that offer opportunities for earning your favorite airline miles via alliances and partnerships that you might not know about.

If you elect to earn airline miles when staying at a hotel or renting a car, you will likely forgo earning rewards with that program.

Think carefully about what type of rewards you want to earn when flying, staying at hotels, renting a car, etc. Very few partnerships allow for earning two types of rewards (the Hyatt-American Airlines partnership is one such opportunity). Make sure you understand this before electing to earn airline miles instead of hotel rewards on your next stay.
