Citi Proactively Waiving Annual Fee for Some Citi Premier Cardholders

Retention offers are always a nice gesture form credit card issuer. Getting some kind of credit or bonus for paying the annual fee and keeping the card for another year, always makes the decision easier. Chase has been giving some big credit recently to Sapphire Reserve cardholders. We have also seen these offers for n0 fee cards recently. Check out our full list of retention offers here.

You normally need to call in or send a message and ask for any offers available for your accounts. But Citi is doing this proactively for some current cardholders. The Miles Man reports that instead of a $95 annual fee, its Citi Premier statement showed a ‘$95 annual fee waiver’ and a $0 charge.

Conclusion

Citi Premier currently earns 3X on air travel, gas, supermarkets and restaurants. You also get an annual $100 discount on a single hotel stay of $500 or more. So being able to keep the card for no annual fee is a sweet deal. You can read our full review of card card here.

  1. I contacted Citi. The agent said they had no notices about waiving fees. (I wanted mine credited back, since I just paid it). Nope. Any suggestions? HUACA?
