Send Gifts On Amazon

Amazon has launched a new feature that allows Prime members to instantly send gifts from their mobile devices, simply by providing the recipient’s email or mobile phone number. That means that you don’t need to know a person’s address in order to send them a gift.

Sometimes you just want to send a person a surprise gift. But asking them for their mailing address kind of defeats the purpose. With Amazon Prime you can now skip the awkwardness and still send them a gift.

You can just use the Amazon app to find a gift and add it to your cart. You then select “Add a gift receipt for easy returns” and proceed to check out. When choosing the delivery address, Prime members will now see a new option to “Let the recipient provide their address.” All you need to do is enter the recipient’s email or mobile number. You can also input a message that the recipient will see when virtually opening the gift.

Once the order is placed, the recipient will receive an email or text message within five minutes or so. They can see the gift and accept it. Then they enter their preferred delivery address from their Amazon account. The gift will be delivered using Prime shipping.

But if they see that it is a gift that they don’t want or need, the recipients also have the option of exchanging the item for an Amazon gift card. They can then use the card to purchase something else, without having to notify the gift giver.

This new feature is already available for all Prime members in the U.S. when shopping through the app. Amazon also has a video to show you how it all works.

Send Gifts On Amazon – Final Thoughts

This is a pretty cool change for Amazon and should make gift giving that much easier. Want to make someone’s day special but don’t know them well enough to ask for an address? Amazon has got you! Wanted to thank a co-worker that lives in another city but felt weird asking where they live? All you need is their phone number. Not to mention I hate adding a new address to my Amazon account so this is perfect.  The fact that they can turn it in for a gift card if they don’t like / want it is just another perk that is a nice change too.
